Sodium dihydrogen phosphate (also known as sodium acid phosphate, chemical formula NaH2PO4, is an inorganic acid salt, easily soluble in water, almost insoluble in ethanol.
Applications:
Used in boiler water treatment, electroplating, tanning, baking powder, fuel additives, detergents, mica blending, acid retarder, etc. It is also the raw material for preparing sodium hexametaphosphate and polycondensate.
Phosphates are often used in foods and in water treatment. The pH of such formulations is generally adjusted by mixtures of various sodium phosphates, such as this salt. The sodium chloride equivalent value, or E-Value, is 0.49. It is soluble in 4.5 parts water.
2.Detection of magnesium
Monosodium phosphate is used to detect the presence of magnesium ions in salts. Formation of a white precipitate on the addition of ammonium chloride, ammonium hydroxide and monosodium phosphate to an aqueous or dilute HCl solution of the salt indicates presence of magnesium ions.
3.Food Industry
In food industry and fermentation industry, it can also be used as buffering agent, raw material of baking powder, adhesive and curing agent for bread and sauce, sour agent for powder, and quality improver for evaporated milk.Also can make cheese and other dairy products, meat, fish products stabilizer, binder, baking powder buffer, salting with mixed salt, etc.
