Sodium tripolyphosphate(Na5P3O10) is a strong cleaning ingredient that typically can rid dishes and fabrics of soil and spots. Its key function is that it allows surfactants to work at their full potential. Also, it prevents deposition of soil and acts as a pH buffer. It softens detergent water and can be used as a water treatment, as well. Many household cleaning products, including surface and toilet cleaners, contain STPP due to its cleaning component. Most chemical plants that make STPP list “detergents” as the primary area of use for this chemical.
STPP tech grade is used as additive in detergent synthesis, ceramics production, soap synergist. Has strong emulsifying property to lubricant and fat, to adjust the PH value of buffer liquid soap, water softener for industrial water, pretanning agent for leather production, in dyeing additive, paint, kaolin, magnesium oxide, calcium carbonate and other industries as dispersant for the preparation of suspension, as dispersant in drilling fluid, as anti-oil agent in paper-making industry.
Food Applications:
It is used as water-retainer, applied in sea foods, canned foods, fruit drinks, milk products, vegetable protein drinks, instant noodles, meat products and so on.
In Total,Sodium tripolyphosphate has chelating, suspending, dispersing, gel dissolving, emulsifying, pH buffering and other functions. It can be used as auxiliary agent of synthetic detergent, industrial water softener, leather pre-tanning agent, dyeing assistant, organic synthesis catalyst, dispersing agent of medical industry and food additive.At present, its largest use is still as a powder synthetic detergent additives and Ceramic Degumming Agent.
